Suzuki GSX – S1000GT

Cupar Motorcycles in Scotland delivered the GSX on Saturday. I think it looks gorgeous in Red, and is 100 times easier to ride than the Norton. Looking forward to putting some miles on it. Just need tank protection.

Pictures taken in Fulbeck following a short ride. Have to say, because of my stupidity I was nearly wiped out today, coming out to a junction and concentrating on the wrong thing – huge learning curve for me.

After courting the Honda Hornet and the naked GSX-S1000, I have settled on the GSX-S1000GT. The price of the bike and the ability to have 0% finance with discount on the bike is attractive.

I ordered Candy Daring Red, other colour choices are Pearl Vigor Blue, Metallic Art Grey, Metallic Triton Blue and Glass Sparkle Black. Only extras added Front and Rear Axle Sliders and will add tank guard and heated grips after delivery.

Suzuki complete their lineup with the new Suzuki GSX-S1000 GT, a truly brilliant sports touring machine that is as capable as it is quick! Building upon the redesign of the new GSX-S1000, the GT version takes the newly improved engine and couples it with a comfortable, agile sports touring chassis that allows you to cover many miles in comfort and style, disappearing into the horizon with a quick flick of the wrist.

The Suzuki GSX-S1000 GT inherits the superbike-slaying DNA of the K5 GSX-R1000, with a recently defined engine from the revered race machine that now offers better power delivery and greater torque than ever before, all while meeting the criteria and compliance measures for a Euro 5 motorcycle. The engine sits neatly within the specifically designed chassis, engineered to focus on comfort, agility and control. With an engine of that calibre, the GSXS GT sure goes well! Thanks to fully adjustable KYB front suspension and preload adjustable rear suspension, coupled with Brembo monobloc calipers, its handles and stops very well too!

The bike features a much more upright riding position than that of the Suzuki GSX-S1000, perfectly designed for all day comfort. The handlebars are wide set and at a raised position to offer greater feel and control of the GSX-S1000 GT, while the footrests feature rubber inserts to reduce vibration and aid comfort over longer distances. Suzuki haven’t just focused on the rider for the GSX-S1000GT, and have given particular attention to the pillion passengers, with careful consideration going into the shape, size and thickness of the passenger seat, pillion grab handles and pillion footrest position for great sport touring ergonomics. A great deal of attention has also been given to the aerodynamic profile of the bike to ensure that not only is the bike striking to look at, but also helps to reduce fatigue and increase comfort too!

The addition of the Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) is a welcomed feature, enhancing the usability of the new Suzuki GSX-S1000 GT and enriching the sports touring potential too. The SCAS helps to reduce the negative torque and engine braking when downshifting from high RPM, which can cause the rear wheel to skip or potentially lock up. The result of the SCAS system is a smoother machine, which offers the rider greater control when downshifting and cornering as well as a lighter clutch lever operation, making for increased comfort when travelling through tight traffic.

The new Suzuki GSXS1000 include their Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS). This comprehensive electronics package offers includes the latest in Suzuki motorcycle technology, allowing you to get the most out of your new GSXS 1000 GT.

Suzuki’s Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) features three different riding modes to help tailor the machine to suit the rider or the riding conditions. These riding modes are distinguished by the letters A, B and C, which stand for ‘Active’, ‘Basic’ and ‘Comfort’. ‘Active’ provides the most direct throttle response for exciting acceleration on good weather days, while ‘Comfort’ offers a softer throttle response and gentler torque delivery, perfect for wet weather days or a more relaxed riding style.

The Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS) features five different traction control modes to let you tailor your new Suzuki to meet your needs. The STCS uses inputs from the throttle position sensor, crank position sensor, gear position sensor, front wheel speed sensor and rear wheel speed sensor. All these sensors feed back to the GSX-S 1000 GT’s electronic brain and makes adjustments accordingly when an imminent loss of traction is detected, helping keep you safer on the road and a blessing in wet weather conditions.

A new ride-by-wire electronic throttle system allows for a greater connection between the rider and the bike for a more direct throttle response. This system works by using a series of sensors to communicate with the throttle valves, offering a lighter and faster throttle response with a natural, familiar feel. The inclusion of the ride-by-wire throttle has also made it possible for Suzuki to include a bi-directional quickshifter on the new GSX-S1000 GT, which allows the rider to shift up and down the gearbox without the use of the clutch lever. The quickshifter’s electronic sensors automatically interrupt power delivery for a fraction of a second, allowing the gear cogs to unload and the rider to upshift, all in one seamless motion. The bi-directional quickshifter is sure to improve the sporty feel of the new GSX-S1000 GT. A cruise control feature comes as standard, a blessing for long distance bikers that will really make the difference when travelling over many miles.

The GSX-S 1000 GT is the first Suzuki that comes with a full colour TFT dashboard display, bringing the Suzuki right into the modern age, that offers a comprehensive range of information for the rider. Fuel gauge, gear position, ambient temperature and much more, the TFT display also has an anti-scratch surface and anti-reflective too, making it much easier to read your display, even in bright light! The TFT dashboard display is designed to connect effortlessly to your smartphone too! By downloading the Suzuki mySPIN app, the rider can connect their phone directly to their bike and control the smartphone using the bikes controls to change settings, and open contacts, music, maps and more!

Looking for storage for your travelling essentials? The Suzuki GSX-S1000 GT also features optional colour matched side cases as part of the impressive range of Suzuki Genuine Accessories for the GSX-S1000 GT. Offering a whopping 36 litres of storage space per case, these side cases can easily accommodate a full-face helmet each and thanks to an innovative attachment system, you can easily attach and remove the side cases in seconds.
