Had an off chance examination of the underside of the Grenadier and noticed that the Front Differential Oil Seal was leaking.
Exploring, what I should do next, apart from book into the dealer, I found the following advice on the Ineos Grenadier Forum.
- Check the Oil Level of the Front Differential. Undo the fill port and check that there is sufficient oil. If not top-up with the appropriate oil. See below:
- There was also mention of checking the diff breather for any sign of blockages.
Here’s a more detailed explanation:
- Filler Plug: This is a small, usually square-shaped plug that’s located on the differential housing. It’s designed to be easily removed and reinstalled.
- Location: The refill point is usually located on the driver’s side of the front axle, but it’s a good idea to consult the vehicle’s owner’s manual for the exact location and instructions.
- Checking and Adding Fluid:To check or add differential fluid, you’ll need to remove the filler plug. The proper procedure is to first check the fluid level with a dipstick (if available) or by measuring the fluid level from the top of the housing. If the level is low, you can add the appropriate amount of fluid until it reaches the recommended level.
In short, to find the front axle refill point, look for the hexagonal-shaped filler plug on the front side of the differential housing (pictures later).
The vehicle is booked in for service in June, but it looks like this will be an extra visit. Plus I will purchase the Agile Diff Venting Kit. Click here.
